Just an update on the wheels. Fikse has gotten back to me with a confirmation they can do the wheels. They will be using a profil series with a blind hub attachment to avoid the chrome bolt cover ring but will still use the original single lug. My contact is at Mid Ohio for the Grand Am so I won't have final pricing and detail info until then. |

The finish is the "gun metal". Standard. Prices are similiar too Fiske. I've owned both, Fiske on an Audi S4, and Kinesis on a racing 944 turbo,,13's in the back. Both great wheels. Just like the look of the Kinesis, the small lugnuts visible in the edge of the rim, will be harder to clean though. Hopefully will hear from Kinesis soon again, if not will go with Fiske. Taso |

Responding to your question Brian, my preliminary, and I emphasize preliminary cost through my contact is $850 front, $935 rear although I'm not totally holding my breath. Thats based on standard finish which is a mirror polished rim and what I consider to be a high satin hub. http://www.fikse.com/technipol.html If I go P -Zero the package will be over $4,600. Thats based on 9x18f w/ 255/35's, 11x18r w/295/35's. Bridgestone and Toyo would save about $200. Of course there is always the "extras" so I'm still waiting. Factory response is positive but not confirmed. They currently have two of my wheels so it better work. Already going through serious Tubi withdraw. I've looked at probably two dozen high end manufacturers including HRE and Kinesis who both make good wheels. I felt the HRE's had a great model which appears to be discontinued and I just couldn't visualize their current offerings. Single lug needs a large center hub for oversized pilot hole so it limits styles. Frankly, I felt Fikse gives me a light weight wheel, forged quality and style wise keeping with what I think is a 5 point asymmetry which is a personal preference. Wheel offset profile seems to look good allowing some aggressive shadowing from a slight inset but enough room to allow future brake caliper upgrades if I choose. Last but not least it looks cleanable/maintainable especially since they treat their bolt attachement from the inside to give a more monolithic exterior face. Well, thats it at this point but I'll try and update when the specifics are in, hopefully this coming week.

Jim is absolutely correct...I was looking into aftermarket wheels for my '87 TR but the price is just not worth it in my opinion. I'd be better off finding some mint used aftermarket wheels, but that's about impossible too. I did lots of measuring and layout work on my TRs wheels, the spline hubs, etc. And I do think if an aftermarket wheel has the correct offset and basic dimensions, that it could be modified to fit. But then the safety aspect comes into play. Changing a wheel....might be a scary thing to do. Not sure about this yet. The cheapest set of wheels I found were from SAC in Florida....$3,600 delivered for 18x8s and 18x10.5s. I'd most love to have wheels like the later 512TRs. I did once see an early TR on ebay with wheels that were very close...I emailed the seller about them, but he did not know their origin. Pity...as they were exactly what I would like on my car. Till I come up with something within my budget...I'll make do with my stock restored wheels. |

any of those wheels...HRE, Fikse, Kinesis, Speedline etc are usually about $900 to $1100 each for the base line model. Then you add center caps, ferrari center caps, valve stems, custom finishes and wider widths and the price goes up. |

Both the FIKSE and Kinesis wheels look great but what are the costs on each? |

Brian; looking at the classic FM-5 since I think the 5 spoke works best but it has a taper which I think adds some gracefullenss. The profil series offers a similar look with some slight differences, most notably it is a lighter configuration for the purist, likewise it costs more. |

Taso, the K58's look great. What finish? Also, they offer a K58R that says reverse drop center. What does that mean? |

Just a quick interest post for single lug owners. I'm now in the process of having 18" FIKSE wheels fitted for my TR. This will be a first time fitment for this style. If anyone has entertained FIKSE for their TR this may now be an option. Waiting on final word but will keep posted. If anyone else is intersted we may be able to put in a combined order. Comments appreciated. |
