Haven't need to complete that task yet. I lifted the AC control unit out slightly when doing the ashtray, looks like removal of the switches and follow ash tray instructions?

If you pull the lighter and plastic ash holder out, there is a #2 phillips screw almost in the middle of the bottom of the tray. Remove this screw and the whole assembly comes out of the car. Be carefull because the lighter wire and the mirror wiring is attached to this assembly. Disconect the wiring harness. The hardest part is removing the lid. It is attached with two snap togeather fulcrums that are very difficult to remove at the same time. It's easier to have the lid in the closed position when removing these two fulcrums. Reverse procedure for installation. I'm supprised and happy you were able to find a $50.00 replacement. Good luck with the R&R.

After much research and lots of dead ends, I came up with my own home brew for refinishing Ferrari rubber interior components. It seems to work even better than the original finish, even through at first it has the luster and depth a new part has and doesn't match the old interior. To help the older parts look new again, you could try using an interior finishing product like Armor All. I worked with Performix (Plasti Dip) for the rubberized coating, depending on where you live most hardware stores Home depot, Ace hardware, Tacoma Screw, carry this product. If you can't find it just call performix they can direct you to the closest distributor. Good luck, my ashtray looks like new and still has the original rubber feel. $200.00 in my pocket for other Ferrari stuff. Next year Performix will be marketing this same product for automotive use.

1) Sandblast old material off surface

2) Use 180g sand paper. Sand entire surface

3) Spray with black primer. Let dry 4 hours

4) Spray with performix plastic dip black. Spray on 4-6 coats. let dry 20 min between coats.

5) Have a beer. Let dry overnight 12 hours.
6) Install trim flags.
7) Finished part back in car.

It looks darker in picture than in real life. Hope it will fade like original given time.

Folks I'm looking for an ashtray cover for my '95 355. Mine has a big scratch from the previous owner. Any ideas where I should look for such an item?

Thanks,

Michael
