I agree with Bill. You really need to change all hoses!!!! or you will be dealing with this problem again real soon. |

Mike, Coolant in the expansion tank may be newer and therefore cleaner than coolant in the rest of the system. Coolant in the rest of the system may be more of a brown color indicating rust and corrosion. Have you flushed or changed the coolant recently? Sometimes water will stagnate in the heater circuit if you haven't used the heater in a long time. When the heater is then used, this old crudy coolant may then mix with the rest of the system and contaminate it also. If you haven't changed the coolant in a while, you may want drain it, fill it with distilled water, run it, drain it again, then fill it with an appropriate mixture of distilled water and antifreeze. Paul, thanks for the reply. The small hose on the right side appears to be brittle and brown around the hose clamp connections. This will be changed immediately, however why would the fluid be brown when the coolant in the tank is green? Any ideas? I feel that I am missing something. Thanks |

The residue on the window is rusty brown color. It dries like it is water based, but when I check the coolant tank, the coolant is nice and green? What type of water curcuit would be rusty yet the primary tank is clean? |

If you have anti-freeze residue on your rear window chances are good that you a leak in one of your hoses located under the intake plenun (2 hoses, one on top of the other) these hoses come off the back of the water pump. I can't recomend this enough, you have a car that is 17 years old with approx. 8 hoses that connect the radiator to the engine (most are less than 5 inches in length)and are probaly 10 years old or greater. Take your radiator out have it cleaned and replace all hoses, you will be glad you did. PS. Change the Heater hose that runs up the left side of car to heater boxes TOO! |

The line from the radiator to the engine runs down the right side of the car. Check the rubber hoses and connections first. |

I started my 308 and let it warm up in the driveway. Under my car was what appeared to be a fresh green and brown mix on the ground. The car does not overheat, there is plenty of coolant etc... Also, there is a brown residue on the right side of the engine and a little was up on the rear window. It looks like rusty something. Where would this be coming from? Is there some type of overflow hose on the right side? Another question is; where do I place the jack stands on the front of a 1985 308 Euro? Thanks Mike |
