You might contact Palo Alto Speedometer (do a google search) as they have a lot of experience with Veglia instruments. |

I would argee with Peter. If you unplug the sensor, it is now not getting a signal, so if it still jumps up to 80, then something must be shorting to give it the "phantom" signal... Or I could be completely wrong, and the speedo needs rebuilding. |

If you were working behind the dash, you may have shorted some wires on the speedo (I can believe it since its a rat's-nest behind there)... |

So I get everything working, and now all of a sudden the speedo is stuck on 80 mph. Looked at all the wires to see if I bumped anything, but it looks OK. Symptoms: turn on key, needle goes to 80. Unplugging trans sensor makes no difference, bridging sensor makes no difference. Every time the speedo head gets 12 v it goes to 80. Go 80 mph and needle stays at 80. So, just like the broken clock that is correct twice a day, the speedo IS correct if I go 80. Any ideas if this is a typical sensor failure? I was messing around back there cleaning up and fixing oil leaks, but I was also working behind the dash to remove the alarm. Any help is appreciated. Jay |
