Thanks guys. Dan, I know what you mean. We went on vacation for three weeks and I kept thinking about the car just sitting there. I had my friend turn it over, but Im not ready to have someone else drive it just yet. The car really does run better with consistent use. I noticed the difference after three weeks. Are you going to the Garden State Ferrari Festival? It would be a long drive for you. Well probably see each other in reading next year. |

The best thing you can do is drive it regularly if possible. I live in the northern tip of VA and the max interval last year between drives was 3 (painful) weeks. Your climate is similar. The only thing I did was put my trickle charger on one day per week. (too paranoid to leave on unattended). Lens, we'll have to get our GTBs together sometime! |

I have always done the following on my cars and HD. I have an automatic battery tender ( that turns off after full ) on the battery. I check the coolant to ensure it is good for the recomended winter temp. I empty the washer bottle and run a Very high concentration of fluid / water and then make sure it is through the lines to the pissers ( industry standard term ) and most important get a few carpet sample squares, and put two thick under each tire to prevent the cold from getting to the tire from the cold floor, and this stops flat spotting. I also fill and run the car with fresh gas from a good clean new tank station to ensure no water in the lines and will even put fuel stabilizer in and run it in case it is a bad winter and I run the snow blower more than the car. I do not bother heating the garage as it is a waste of $$. If it is nice drive it and clean the salt off of the bottom / wheel wells and park it again under the cover and you should have no probs. Id like to drive the car on snow-free days this winter, but was wondering if there was anything else I should do when its not running. Anyone have a battery charger installed on their car? I use a Schumacher Mity Mite charger on my 911 and have never had a problem. Im also thinking of heating the garage to just above 32 degrees. |
