Those diagrams do look a little intimidating but I'm sure it's not that difficult when you actually sit down and work on it. Thanks again for your help, I'll be taking a look at the seat ASAP as the rocking is driving me mad! Justyn. |

Justyn: I made a mistake, your seat mechanism should look more like this on a 1994 Spider, according to the parts book. Somewhat different in layout from the earlier seat. Screw #67 is the likely culprit (qty. 6 per seat) |

Thank you for your help. I'll wait until I have time to remove the seat and inspect the area you have described. Kind regards, Justyn. |

Great information Jeff. Nice scan, too. On this subject, I've also found placing a piece of shrinkwrap over the 'pin' which is retained in a worn or sloppy latch mechanism may also remove some or all of this madening slop in the backrest for a while until itself wears. |

Justyn: My 348 also had "rocking" seat backs. When I had the seats out to redye, I looked into the problem and found that the screws shown as #28 on the exploded view were very loose, and one of them was missing. There are 3 screws on each side of each seat. I'm afraid I don't remember exactly how to get at them, but that's what fixed my seats. Removing the seats from the car isn't very difficult, and it will probably be necessary to get at the screws. Good luck! |

I have a problem with the driver's seat in my 1994 348 Spider. (I tried some searches on here but could find nothing, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.) Basically when I lean back in my seat the backrest tilts back slightly. When I lean forward so there is no pressure on the backrest it springs back into place again. Therefore when I am driving and pressing on and off the clutch, I can end up "rocking" in my seat. I don't think the whole seat is moving, just the backrest. The passenger seat is ok. It feels like maybe there is some kind of rachet for adjusing the backrest that is worn? I'm sure a 348 I hired once had a similar problem so I'm thinking that maybe this is a common fault? If anyone could shed some light on this so I can stop "rocking round the clock" then I'd be most grateful. Kind regards, Justyn. |
