Peter Krause is the guy doing it at my recomendation... He finished up this afternoon and found several little things that I didn't know about or couldn't find. - A cam seal leaking and I just changed them! - AC not really cold but works (maybe just freon but the A/C warning light is not on) - A headlight (was working because passed inspection) - Slow down light which I told him about which is a broken wire or short on the thermal couple - exhaust leak on the front bank arround the EGR valve???? - one trunk solenoid not working (I know it was working this weekend? Maybe he didn't have it latched when he tried it?) He didn't say if there was anything else since technically the prospective buyer owns the list. But I think Peter did a great job for the prospective buyer. Anyway I'll get the car back tonight and see if I can get the list from the prospective buyer so I can correct those things. Bill |

Try Peter Krause at 919.781.1871. He's a great Ferrari tech and will charge a reasonable fee. |

agreed, that why you should ask for it, no reason to not spend the additonal 100 bucks to check the engine |

A PPI is genearlly like a "safety inspection" in regards to the depth: Road test, overall cond. of the car, pulling the wheels to check the brakes, fluid level/condition check, etc, etc. The compression test on an f-car is usually a special additional request as the average PPI is billed at 2 shop rate hours. How much can one really do in that timeframe?? |

if you are selling than the buyer should pay otherwise there is a conflict of interest. you may agree to reimburse them if something pops out though, otherwise don't worry about what he is going to do |

Thanks, I am the seller not the buyer. I've done compression and it is about 180 +/- less than 5%. I've never done leak down but wondering what else they would do. Bill |

don't assume compression and leak down - ask for it - that is the real meat of a good PPI. Everything else is mostly touchy, feely, looky |

I took my car into a mechanic today to do a "pre-purchase inspection". Said it would take about 4-hours but need the car all day. What is typically done in a PPI inspection. I would imagine compression and leak down but what else? Thanks, Bill |
