Thanks all. I am concerned that too much force, either tension or torsion, may break the 20-year old plastic. But I shall give it a try. Looks like it should pull off (from the picture on the other thread). By the way, I am using Leatherique (Sp?) on my seats and console. It has taken multiple applications, but it beginning to soften the cardboard-like leather. More to come. Thank you. Jim S. |

Some just pop off and some actually screw off. They're not all the same. Go figure! |

James -- This thread has a picture of the (pronged?) switch stalk that fits (with a slight interference) into the black dish knob: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/256120/222648.html |

If these toggles are the same as on the early 308's (lucas brand) then you just tug gently on the black plastic portion, and it will slide off the metal shaft. I drove a 84 BBi couple weeks ago, but I didn't pay much attention to the toggles, I was too busy grinning out the windshield... :-) |

I am trying to clean and treat the leather of the center console on the 83 BB512i. I would like to remove the entire center console to work on it. There are several toggle switches with black plastic (dish-like) levers. I can loosen the thin retaining nut, but the black plastic lever will not fit through the hole. How does one remove these switches from the leather console? Any ideas? Thanks. Jim S. |
