Doody, that is a good point. The people on this board that cite all these incredible deals on 355 Spiders have not bought one recently. I have read posts on a guy getting a 355 Spider for 70K. Well they failed to mention it had 30K plus on the clock, needed some restoration, and was a previous RENTAL CAR. Scary. Do your due dilegence, and remeber: You get exactly what you pay for. To be cordial, I respect various poster's opinions, click on their profile and they do not have (or recently purchased ) a 355. So in that sense, it is like me commenting on the value of a 512. It is pure speculation based on hear say, and the infamous e-bay motors. So many times I have heard: I say xx on e-bay for yy. Did you call them?? And so your point is????

A 97 Spyder for $75K with the service??? Put the deposit down immediately if this is through a Ferrari dealer and the car has a clean CARFAX. The miles are high, but even so, the price is great... |

Mr Doody, I like your approach. I guess what you are trying to tell me is not to listen to ( village idiots LOL ;o ). OK let's start all over for a third time. Knowing that the vehicle is in great condition 30k will be done and offered for $75 to $80k what would you do ?? |

Doody: While, in your opinion, the depreciation curve doesn't enter into the factor of the current value of the 355, I disagree. There are cars you could buy that are "fully" depreciated......relatively speaking. To buy a 355 with 26K miles on it, one can only expect the price to drop, as the miles are put on. If you only plan on putting 1K miles a year on the car, the price will still drop.....but less. If one puts 10K miles a year on the car, the price will drop a LOT!!!!! It is your choice!

tommy's finally starting to have fun with this :-) seriously - do yourself a favor and stop listening to us morons here --- fire up excel; fire up your web browser; surf all the usual suspects and collect data on 1996, 1997, and 1998 Spiders with varying mileage; eyeball the numbers to adjust for model year and miles; make an educated judgement. just as FML's asking price index is notoriously inflated, the opinions expressed here have a way (IMO) of being notoriously deflated. especially once frank gets involved in a dino discussion - hey why are you reading dino thread anyway, dude?!?!?!? :-) :-) the range on a 1997 with 26K miles is probably $85K through $115K depending upon who the buyer is, what's been done to it, how it's been cared for, who's going to stand behind it, etc. etc. doody. |

and even further.... only about 2,500 F355s total were imported into NA through all the years of production. and of those, only about 800 were spiders. doody. |

Let's see now..... 109 HP/liter, 1800 hours of wind tunnel testing, electronic damping suspension, etc, etc and 2000 of them made per year. That's what I call mass produced!! |

frank - he wasn't asking what the depreciation curve looks like. and my guess is that he's wondering what the market value might be - not what YOU would pay for it. we know your opinion of the dinos :-). 105 smells high for a 97 with 26K miles. even from an FNA dealer. doody. |

IMHO that's too much for the car regardless of the mileage. The 355 was a mass produced industrial "Ferrari" thats price has no place to go but down ! |

Miles is the key... I've got a 97 blue spider and wouldn't sell it for that price, but only has around 10k miles. i.e., if you're getting it from a FNA, it sounds like a great deal, particulary with the service. I've had that service done and replaced the cam belt, it is not cheap. |

$95k. I would expect a lower price if it is being sold and serviced through a non-FNA dealer. Others may disagree, but I am will to pay a bit more to work through an authorized dealer. |

I might have a new addition to the family.I need some help pricing out this vehicle.97 F355 Spider 26k Blue on Beige. The vehicle is very clean in and out with no paint. It's a lease return and the previous owner had purchased a service contract with it. The dealer will do the 30k service prior to delivery. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Tommy A
