After reading this post, I went to check my '81 308 GTSi and I only have 2 turns lock to lock.
???
Could there be something wrong with it? Has anyone encountered a "super quick" steering rack before?

Superformance is unfortunately sold out of LHD fast steering boxes.
2.5 turns would be perfect for slalom.

While I know the 308 quick rack probably will not fit a Mondial, how difficult would it be to produce one for a Mondial? E.G - would the parts inside the 308 quickrack be adaptable to a Mondial? Anyone know a source to find out or have any ideas?

How many turns lock to lock is this quick steer unit? The stock one is about 3.3 turns lock to lock, which seems very reasonable for everything except slalom.
One thing you may notice is that when you go with a quicker steering box is that when you countersteer an oversteer situaton you will tend to overcorrect and then have to re-countersteer -- wagging the tail a bit and losing more speed. OTOH, the car will be nicer in a slalom for Autocross.

I have talked to half a dozen people about the quick steer rack for the 308. Every one seems to like the way their car handles with it. Does anybody else that I have not talked to have any feedback on this---good or bad? Thanks--Dave |
