Don't forget you need the new shock bushings too. They are not included. |

Yeah, rebuild versus new. It is so close, and the new get the lifetime warranty, that you should just get new. Tirerack.com sells them for around $115 or so. Rebuilds by Koni are around $90, I think. |

I think true choice gets $80 each. If you drive the car hard, you may want to consider upgrading to a modern shock. There are several threads if you do a search. |

Mike, The "lifetime" warranty is only for aftermarket purchased shocks, not the eom ones supplied to manufacturers...or so I have been told. Crawford, I am certain that you would notice a difference with new shocks, regardless of mileage. Though my 87 328 has only 37k miles, it is on my "to do" list for my 15k minor service this winter, when I hit 45k miles...new shocks and shock bushings. |

Doesn't Koni have a lifetime guarantee on their shocks? Or is that only for the original owner? |

Definately makes a difference. My 1986 328's shocks were shot. It is hard to notice because there is so much preload on the springs. I took my shocks off and sent them to Koni North America. They "dynoed" them and found they were shot. They then rebuilt them. The difference is night and day. |

Hello, A dead shock absorder can definitely cause a clunk or rattle noise and I would say if they have never been serviced/replaced, now is a good time. You'll find it's a whole new car once this has been done. |

Can't help you with the answer here, but I think its a good question! My 308 rattles a bit over the bumps and I can't tell whether it's coming from the shock absorbers or the various bushings, (or the steering rack) From anybodies experience, is it likely to be the shock absorbers ??? |

I very seldom hear of shocks/springs being replaced on 328's. Shouldn't that be a priority on a 14 to 17 year old car? Especially one that's driven hard. If I rebuilt/replaced the shocks on my 86 328, would I notice a difference? Would it make the car safer; more comfortable on rough roads? |
