Just wanted to correct my response (since Ben L. said his TR rear defroster switch did illuminate some) -- I rechecked mine in complete darkness and something does illuminate inside the switch, but the white symbol on the rear defroster switch button is virtually opaque (compared to the symbol on the foglight switch) so it's very difficult to tell illuminated from not illuminated on the rear defroster switch button.

Thanks guys for all the responses.

I took the old switch appart and the ligth bulb in the switch is actually a green LED on a little circuit board inside the switch, that has a bunch of discreet components soldered onto it. My guess is the older switch has dirt/grunge in it, and is glowing but at a greatly reduced intensity.

I got the replacement switch at: http://www.ferraripartsexchange.com/

Cost was something like $140.00 and I knew the switch was bad because I saw it smoke itself (literally!!) the last time I tried it. New switch works great.

Thanks again
Scott

OK I can make my garage pitch black. With no keys handy (meaning car not on)...I tried to snap a pic but the digicam is not light sensitive enough. BOTH my fog light and rear defrost buttons glow when I have the main headlight stalk turned on. The fog light button is a good bit brighter but both do have some glow.

Scott -- (like your's) on my '91 US TR only the foglight switch glows green when the main headlight stalk is turned on (not the rear defroster switch).

Scott the rear defogger swith on the 308s does. If there is a orange window in the switch it probably is supposed to. The bulb should be inside.

My 88 TR SWITCH does not glow when turned on either - guess you're one up on us. Of course you really should replace all your switches so they all glow. Afterwards, could you pass the old fan switch on to me? I need one that doesn't glow and hopefully works :-)

Ernest.

Just replaced my foglight switch, and now have working foglights. One thing I noticed is that the new switch glows green when the lights are on. The old switch before it went south didn't light up at all, and neither does the working rear window defogger switch. I'm wondering if it is supposed to light up or if its just the foglight switch that does this.

TIA
Scott
