"I just drove over 500 miles in my 550 in a day." A whole day? - 24 hours? av speed = 20.83 miles/ hour! Bart - Perhaps if you advise how many hours it took to travel the 500 miles, we could tell you what the average speed was |

An easiy way to check is to look at the mile markers on the side of the road. Just get the car to the speed you are interested in and hold it steady. When you pass a mile marker look at your watch. When you've gone 1 mile and see the next marker, look at the time again. Your true speed = distance/time. |

My speedometer read 100miles(160km) per hour in sixth at around 3000-3200 rpm (94' 456GT).

Everything I have is stock or so I thought. I did not know there were opinions on the gear ratio of a 550 nor in the rear end. The wheels were replace in the recall some time back. The tires have 10,000 miles on them since the set was replace by the dealer at purchase. Michelin. |

You need to provide gear ratios for sixth gear and a final drive ratio as well. You also need to know the precise DIAMETER of your rear wheels + tires together, e.g. wheel diameter + sidewall height. Then somebody can run the math.

I just drove over 500 miles in my 550 in a day. I tried to keep it in sixth at 3,500 rpm. I drove a very straight highway. My speedometer read between 95 & 98 miles per hour. There are technologists reading this who could tell me if my cars speedometer is accurate. Well?
