Sorry, I re-read Eds comment and if the clutch is engaged and pressures stay the same on the high and low sides the compressor is not operating properly. Sorry for the repeat but I didn't read Eds reply throughly. |

Kelly, you can visually tell if the clutch is turning with the pulley or if it is skipping when it is energized. If the clutch engages with the pulley then remove the spare tire and well fiber glass cover. You will find the dryer on the passengers side near the firewall and the l/f fender. Start the car with the A/C switch on and have someone slightly rev. the engine while you check the site glass and see if there are bubbles in it. If there is you need freon. Then get a set of guages and hook them to the suction side blue hose and the high side red hose on the head of your compressor, Suction side is stamped with a large "S" and give us the readings while the compressor and clutch are engaged. |

If you engaged the compressor and the clutch engaged and the pressures {high and low} stayed the same, then you definately have a compressor issue. You wll have to trace the electrical problem but you may have tested wrong. The best way is to use a 12 volt test light. Check at the low refrigerant switch near the drier for proper voltages as well as at the thermostatic switch. |

The reason I chasing the electrical side is because the pressure on the low side stayed the same. off or on, which tells me I have an electrical problem, a clutch problem or the compressor has bit the dust. |

Hey guys, my AC has stopped working, To check and make sure it was getting power to Engage the clutch, I put an digimeter on the wire going to the compressor, and then grounded the negative to the frame. After starting the motor and letting it run a few minutes and turning on the AC, I got a -43 volts DC. Should not this be positive. I know I am having ground problem with my turn signals. And I have cleaned the frame strapped to the battery. Next, is the ground under the dash. Any thoughts, I expected this to be 13 volts positive at least. THX Kelly |
