There is no magic one-size-fits-all answer to oil grades. If you're driving in summer in Texas, you'd probably want to go with 20W-50 Valvoline (which I hear is a pretty good oil) or Redline. But for three season use in Northern climates (and I haven't found a good source for Valvoline around here), the Agip 10W-40 is probably a good choice. For my winter car, I use a 5W-30 (full synthetic, because of the turbo). If you're going to be driving the Ferrari in winter in New England (even a little), you'll want to go much thinner than 20W-50. It takes 20 miles to get any oil temp at all on the Agip in a New England winter. |

I get my car serviced at Tim Stanford's and he also uses 20-50 Valvoline Racing oil on my 308qv. |

Hi Everyone, It seems to me that everyone says that 20W-50 is generally the oil recommended for a 308. I have a sticker in my driver side door next to the manufacturer's tag that says only use 10W-30 oil. This is on a 77 308 GTB US version. Anyone heard of this? Is this sticker some kind of non-original thing added by some turkey? I know you are going to tell me to look in the owner's manual but I didn't get one with the car. (Verell is in the process of helping me get one from the Ferrari site. I have a Mac and the Ferrari site has the manuals available in some PC .exe format that I can't use. If it opens up to a pdf and anyone has it, please e-mail it to me!) Meanwhile, what viscosity oil do you use in this thing? THANKS! Jonathan |
