I have a 95 348 Spider and had the same type of problem. Some 348's had a "hot start" problem - seems to be hit and miss according to my mechanic. Some have it, some do not. There is actually a relay kit available that fixes the problem. It cost less than $250.

Also check the connecting parts of the battery. That was a problem I had. The starter connection was not right and the cable was broken under the connector.
Sometime it is the obvious things that we overlook. The warm can make the connection worse.

I had exactly the same problem with my 348ts a few months ago. I pulled the starter with no problems, and had it rebuilt locally for less than $200.

During my struggles, I discovered that if the starter wasn't responding, I could usually get it to work without waiting for it to cool, by rocking the car in gear. The starter gear was not engaged, but evidently there was a dead spot in the armature, and by rocking the car, the rotation of the engagment changed enough to rectify the problem?? Its worth a try next time yours wont start. Mark McKenzie

I just went through exactly the same thing with a 512BB. It was the solenoid. However you or a starter shop should also check the starter just to be sure. Do a keyword search on "starter solenoid" and it will bring up a wealth of information. Good luck.

It sounds like you have a sticky solenoid in the starter. The good news is that it is rebuildable for around $200.

Got a strange problem with my 348tb.
Occasionally I can not start the car when the engine ran warm (for example at the gas station after driving for about 1 hour). When I turn the key there is just on click and nothing happens. I can solve the problem by waiting for 10 to 15 minutes so the engine can cool down. I can tell you that it is not very nice when others behind you have to wait for that time to get there fuel!!!
Strange is as well that the car starts perfectly every time the engine is cold. Then after driving for a while the car seems to have more and more problems to start after a stop (very
embarrasing!!!). In the worst case the problem mentioned above occurs and nothing (exept the click) happens.
Has anybody encountered this problem with his or hers 348. It would be a great help if I could tell the probable reason for this to the mechanics of my local ferrari dealer in Cologne (otherwise I probably get another bill that just takes my breath away again!!!)
