No true reading from this unit I have discovered. I tested against some racing testing equipment and the reading were different. |

Andreas, In Chicago looking for scales, LFSC has them, Continental too, and just over the WI border off I-94 is a truck stop with scales, or south into IN, same thing at 80/90 at I-94 exit. It would only take 10 minutes to put your car on scales at the dealer if you're not interested in accurate corner weights, no need to level the scale pads. Rt. 66 drag strip has scales, and you can enter in some evening 1/4 mile action!

BTW, you can measure the car's weight at one of those truck scales. When the scales are not manned (ie closed), the scale readout still works. I tried 3 of them and got consistent readings. Don't forget to account for full/empty gas tank. |

I have one and used it for awhile. It is pretty neato actually. YOu can do a lot of tests beyond just hte 0-60 stuff incl hp guestimates, and if you put it sideways you can get "skidpad" g readings. I was so impressed with it that i was thinking of setting up a site for peopel to come post their times and all they recorded, but it doesnt look like it ever became popular enough. |

Neal - I couldn't get tazz.com to come up, or find it on Google search. Are you sure that's correct? If so, maybe it was just a temporary access problem. |

I have the old one and have used it quite a few times. It is a cool toy. I loaned it to a buddy to go to the track and it was consistently within .1 - .2 of the track timeslips. Pretty impressive for such a inexpensive little gadget. Dave |

Jonathan, no, Chicago. Hard to find a place here. We don't have as much of a car culture around here. Probably too long winters. |

Actually I got one, but haven't used it so far. Gave it to a friend once who successfully used it in his M3. Also in order to do the HP calc you need to know the exact weight of the car. So far I have not been able to find a scale for my car. Lots of good meant advice re: scales, but no real place. Anyway, the product is pretty cool and at that price a bargain. Is probably for the older model (which I have). They came up with a newer one, which does the same, but the interface is a lot nicer (real LCD instead of code numbers). Yes it is a fun product. If I ever get a chance to use it.

I got an email from G-Tech, saying their $139.95 gadget can be purchased for $59.95 if you're a member of the Ferrari (or Corvette) club. Anybody familiar with this thing? It supposedly can tell you the exact lateral G's where your tires break loose, and can calculate horsepower based on accelleration and car weight. www.gtechpro.com/products.html I was thinking it might be fun to buy one for our local FCA club guys to pass around at our smaller track events.
