If you want the Euro bumper look; simply drain the bumper shocks and compress them. Then either weld or drill and pin/bolt them in place. That's what I did.

SuooooooooWeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Congrats Jonathan.

I love mine and if you are ever so inclined do a track day with it. It is the ONLY place to experience it's full performance potential. Enjoy!

Hi Jonathan,

We beat the Euro / US bumper conversion to death a few months ago and determined that the bumper mounts are different (some fabrication required) and the grille is different.

Jeff,
I don't know....I kinda like the USA bumpers. Question though...if I were to put a Euro front bumper on, do I need to change anything else? (Like the grille?)

Hi Ron,
No, that 308 was a lucky coincidence. The counter counts hits normally. I put the pics up 2 days ago, so a lot of people are looking at the page already.

I love my 308! Can't stop looking at it! It was worth the wait! (My wife is REALLY sick of hearing about it though...)

Check out the article from Car and Driver (1977) that I just scanned and posted here:

http://www.windkistfarm.com/ferrari/index.htm

(I'm moving stuff around between various web pages that I manage until I get a good place for all this stuff...)

Looks great! When I looked at it, the view counter said 308! Just a cool coincidence, or do you have it set at 308?

Jonathon,
I have to "ditto" what Andrew said, you already understand what an Fcar is all about. It IS the "Soul" of a car that makes it truely special.

When I get too caught up in business, or life in general, I just hop into my Fcar and drive, ANTWHERE for awhile and all the stress mystically leaves my body.

Welcome to F-Chat, and I'm sure you will have plenty of ???'s in the future as I have had. Lots of great help here!

Regards

Welcome to the club Jonathan. I have always been a GTB guy and know exactly what it is like to scrape pennies together to buy one. Last December I bought my GTB and since the warm weather has come, I have put on as many miles as I could on her. It is true that they run better the more you drive them. Have fun and enjoy one of the most beautiful cars the world has ever known.

BTW what is your serial number?

Jonathan:

Very pretty car!! I can tell by reading your comments that you really understand and appreciate what makes the Red Cars special. I also used to watch Magnum P.I. just to see that car!! Congratulations and enjoy!!

Thanks for the comments guys! Mike, good advice...it certainly is fun to watch people watch the car but keeping an eye on the road is a good thing! Bill, unfortunately, having a baby due in a few weeks, I won't be able to attend the CT event. However, there is a plan in the works for a Ferrari Chat rondezvous on the Cape in August and we're planning on making that one. Check the NE chat section for details.

n, Jon--beautiful example! I was divided on whether to buy a pre-cat 308 or QV and wound up getting my '85 one year ago. I've been clocking an average of 1,000 miles per month--it's true that the more you drive them, the better they run--enjoy!

By the way, I see that you're from Ma. Will you be driving to Lime Rock, Ct for the Ferrari Challenge on 7/12? It's a great event.

Jonathan,
Your car is beautiful! Looking at photos of a car as nice as your's gives me the incentive to keep working on mine! I have a '84 GTS in about 5 million pieces!
Enjoy your car, be careful and drive the hell out of it!
Best of luck...

What a great car, and a great page, too! Congratulations on your acquisition, and may she made ya proud!

P.S. Parting note of advice from one 308 owner to another: Don't get into any accidents by WATCHING the people watching YOU who are about to get into accidents themselves! ;) Just as with an attractive runner jogging along on the side of the street, a 308 is statistically more likely to cause accidents than any other car on the road... (or so methinks!)

Hi Everyone,
You have been very tolerant of my many questions and I thought you might like to see some pics of the car in question, so I put some pictures up:

Please note that the image captions are for my less ferrari-knowledgable friends, so please do not be offended!

Jonathan
