My guess it would be part of the warm-up components such as one or both of the auxiliary airvalves that are supposed to set a high-idle or maybe one of the warm-up regulators. how are your emissions? within spec with a hot engine?

Generally the "hunting & stalling" you describe is caused by an over rich condition that could be caused by the idle fuel mixture screw adjustment itself or by Fuel Pressure problems at one or both of the FP Regulators.

Check CO on both banks (pre-cat if any)and correct.

Here's the deal on the 85 Euro TR:

Bosch-K Jetronic injection. No lambda, no fuel ECUs, no microswitches. It has two external warm up regulators, two auxiliary air valves, 12 injectors and two six-port fuel metering heads (it's basically identical to the '81 308i system, but with half the parts).

It starts easily and runs fine when cold. After about 1-2 minutes of running, the car begins to "hunt" for idle... running from about 800 to 1200 RPM in a nice "sine wave" type rhythm. About 4 seconds from peak to peak. During this time, it stalls occasionally when approaching a stop and you jump off the throttle. Once the car is fully warmed up, it doesn't do this anymore. In fact, the warmer it gets, the less noticeable the RPM swings are.

Problem is, I'm terrible with these Bosch-K systems, having "grown up" electronic port fuel injection.

I hooked up two vacuum gauges, one to each plenum and the vacuum is very well balanced at idle, just off idle, and at various engine RPM. There is no "hunting" at anything except idle. I've carefully adjusted the throttle stops, and believe them to be set correctly. The ignition is in perfect working order, verified on my Sun scope.

What next?

For S's & G's, here's a recent picture... the TRX tires are going away this weekend, in lieu of some bad-boy 17" rims that are now in my possession.
