thanks for your help, looks like i have found another testarossa to plug my box into to see if the problem transfers to his car, i have taken my coil units off as well to plug those in to see if they could be the problem. I did think that maybe if one coil unit is faulty it may shut down both as a safety feature so the engine doesnt run on 6 cylinders only. does anybody know where i can find information on a wiring diagram for the coils and the wiring leading into the engine management box, there are only about 8 - 10 wires going into the box, switched active, ground, 2 wires going to each of the magnetic pulse coils on the bellhousing and the rest i guess go to the electronic thing on top of the coil heat sink. i just cant understand though what this electonic box does as its only common connection to the coil is the fact that it is screwed to the same heat sink as the coil, i cant see how it controls any pulsing of the main coil, a wiring diagram would be really helpful in understanding it. Any help on a schematic would be most appreciated

Best to test everything on the car first as Rob suggests but if it eventually looks like it might be internal to the ECU, I remember that Gems used to do testing and repair but I just had a look at their website and they only talk about their own systems - I'd try giving them a call and asking them though www.gems.co.uk They'll probably have a good idea.

Failing that, there are plenty of companies that advertise ECU testing and repairs - have a look in Exchange and Mart or search on the web. Might be useful? http://www.atpelectronics.demon.co.uk/englands.htm

Peter,

Do you have the wiring schematic? Just test the pin output to coil trigger with a multimeter and/or oscilloscope. If you already know there's no signal, try ground connections.

Good luck.

There is a place in US that rebuilds these things. Probably not cheap, and I can't find the name right now because I am on the road. But I can find it later and send it to you. Sorry to say that nobody will just lend you a box so you can plug it into your bad car to test for the problem... it may just fry their box.

Now, if you have a buddy with the same car, then ... perhaps you could convince him/her to loan you the box in exchange for a 18 years old bottle of Macallan, or 16 years old Lagavulin, or something like that.

Having problems with no spark on the Testarossa 85 and just wondered if there is a place in the UK where they are happy to plug in my ECU for testing. I live in Crawley area. Just dont want to spend the 800 to find that its ok and the problem is elsewhere. Any help would be most appreciated
