Paul,
There is nothing inherently wrong with the 308 suspension geometry. It works just fine once the OEM shocks and springs are put in the dumpster wher they belong. You need springs that are at least 250 lb/in front and 200 lb/in rear. Mine are a little on the stiff side at 450F, 400R. Then add a set of good quality gas shocks. Then you will probably want to use larger antisway bars, something like 1" F, 7/8" R. The body roll will be gone. I personally don't like polyurethane a-arm bushings on street cars, but they're fine on the anti-sway bars. I also don't like to set up a street car with less than 4" ground clearance, any lower and you hit everything.

"By the way, if you were that disappointed when You drove the car for the first time, why did you buy it."

Did not drive the car to the limit on my test drive. The streets of Beverly Hills are not the Ortega Highway. And besides I always wanted one, thats why i bought it. We love the 308's timeless lines.

I was just remarking on the poor geometry of the suspension, and looking for some help from those who have upgraded their suspension hence the title of my origuinal post.

my wife's 540I cannot outrun this car! It can out handle yes, but that is a temporary situation. (i hope):-)

Well if body roll is just intolerable, then you might inspect your bushings, might I suggest new polly bushings & lower stiffer coil springs.
That should help but remember, Your wife's car was probably designed 30 years after your 308, It should out handle it...
Hell, when I want to go fast, I drive my wife's BMW.
By the way, if you were that disappointed when You drove the car for the first time, why did you buy it?

I appreciate it guys, Thanks for the tip Jonathan!

I know it is a 20 year old car, but the body roll is just intolerable. I guess it is an inherent design feature which i do not care for at all.
I was very disappointed when i drove the car for the first time. Don't get me wrong i love the beautiful lines, sound and straight line performance, but it sucks when my wifes sedan out handles and brakes me.

Paul, I'd say it does handle as any Ferrari should... Well any 20 year old Ferrari.
Lets face it, a 308 will never handle as well as say a 355, even with changes to the suspension geometry.
The stock 308 already comes with Koni coilovers, so aside from installing new replacement Koni shocks and uprated springs, there are a number of aftermarket shock and spring providers that can give you more modern adjustable dampening or stiffer springs.
You just need to figure out how you are going to use your car before you set it up.
As far as brakes, it looks like you have installed 360 wheels on your car, so a big brake kit will clear just fine.

Isn't that Tristams former car? If it is I thought it already had upgraded suspenision, shocks and sway bars.

Paul,
if you do a search, there are several threads on both subjects with detailed info.

I have Ohlins shocks and am quite happy, others have used other brands and also seem happy.

Same on the brakes, I am in the process of fitting 2 piece brembo rotors (355F, 332R) and since you have 18" wheel you could do something like that too. Others have spoken well of the brembo kit which is designed to fit in oem 16" wheels.

So you have you car back now? Mine remains a couple week from running :-(

I would definately put a Brembo Big Brake kit on it. and If coil overs are available do it!
My reccomendation for you is to call By Design Automotive group on Robertson in L.A. 310.559.9670 ask for Sam,Tell him Jonathan Said to call, he can give you all info.

Now that I have plenty of HP, I need to stop this beast as fast as it accelerates as well as make it handle as any Ferrari should. Has anyone put coilovers on a 308? upgraded to bigger Brembos?
What is the best brake/suspension combo for this car? And finally, where to purchase?

Thank You.
