William; I would agree with Jim although I have no information to counter your thoughts. My alternator failed in addition to the exciter lamp and had to rework the system. No cable issues were present at the time. And yes, it is hard to get out although I was able to remove without disturbing the intake manifold. THe biggest problem is protecting the fenders while working so you don't dimple them. |

William - doubt a cable as the culprit. More likely the diodes or brushes. Removing the alternator is a bear in the early TRs - have to remove the plenum. Jim S. |

Alternator died at Pocono. Going to the mechanic tommorow. I was told there is a cable from the alternator to the battery that overheats and fails. Can this cable be replaced with some other brand of cable ? |
