BUY TIRES!!!!!! It is the cheapest performance / safety feature you can get. If $$$$ is an issue buy Kumho Ecstas (sp?) they are the best tire value by miles and a fantastic performer. |

Having gone through sets of Pirelli p zeros fairly quickly I've just moved over to Toyo Proxes, very grippy especially in the wet and look great too.(were about 15% more expensive than p zeros) |

Eugene, nothing personal really. But in all honesty some honesty needs to be aired from time to time. Cars need tires as well as plenty of other things to be safe on highways, byways or tracks, makes no difference. It was strong, but please don't be offened, it wasn't directed at you, but at the words on the screen. Read them yourself again and then think about the guys like me who take our responsibily of keeping our clients SAFETY as the number one concern in the front of our minds at all times. Even how much air is in a set of tires is important, let alone how much (or little) tread is left.

jrv, Wow!! Alot of assumptions! All you needed to say was, "Yes, you need to replace the tires".

Translation!: >>I have a 1993 348 with the original factory Pirelli Asimmertico tires.<< Because I don't want to put miles on my car, cause the dealer told me it would be harder to sell. >>The tires have about 3/16" tread remaining.<< IOW's ( the steel cords aren't showing yet)dangerous to drive on in the wet, and not all that safe on dry pavement, but I plan on driving slow anyway. >>They appear to be in excellent condition.<< If old worn out tires can be called excellent that is. >> As the rubber has hardened a bit, I know they are not very sticky in the turns.<< Hardened a bit but still soft and pliable as compared to concrete, and who needs sticky tires in turns anyway, as slowing down or not taking turns at all is much safer. >>I don't track the car and I am not a super agressive driver. << And I don't want to put new tires on it because it will take away from the originality, and I don't plan on driving it much because it's an investment. >>What do you think? Am I asking for trouble?<< After all I want to sell the car soon and I don't want to be any further underwater plus a Whopping $600 bucks for tires isn't in my budget of $000. |

Put new tires on the car, you will be amazed at the progress tires have made in the last 10 years. "I don't track the car and I am not a super agressive driver. What do you think? Am I asking for trouble?" Yes! do you really want to bend a Ferrari to save a few bucks on tires? |

Following your driving formula, change those tires for some good Z rated rubber. And keep up on your tire pressure checks. Vincent.

Eugene, Are you agressive but not super agressive? I would put a new set on. Those tires are 10yrs old, way too old in my book. You may not have to get Z rated rubber, but I think new tires are in order. Vincent. |

I have a 1993 348 with the original factory Pirelli Asimmertico tires. The tires have about 3/16" tread remaining. There are no signs of dry rot. They appear to be in excellent condition. As the rubber has hardened a bit, I know they are not very sticky in the turns. I don't track the car and I am not a super agressive driver. What do you think? Am I asking for trouble? |
