Valve cover gaskets were straight forward. As with all Ferrari's be extra carefull around the corners; that's it. No leaks. I'll snap a few pics today. |

Jeff, Was it a difficult job to replace the valve cover gasket? |

I do need to check exactly where its coming from but since it is so far over on the right front of the engine bay the alt seems to be the only place, my electical gremlins have to do more with the lights are opposed to the engine, Thought I solved it for a few weeks after getting a new battery but they have returned |

Have you pulled the wheel and the wheel well cover to see if the smoke is coming from the header? Electrical gremlins. My biggest rpoblem has always been the CONNECTIONS. Check all your plugs and sockets. I'd bet you could make them go away. I've been over my car and ther are no electrical gremlins anymore. I also solved my hot start prblem by replacing a plug. let me know what you find. J |

I did the check and it looked good 12-13 - the occassional smoke concerns me, plus I am having the other usual electrical gremlins and I know I have a small cam cover seal leak |

Jim, Thanks for taking a look for me. I appreciate that. However, I'm looking for a part # that would be a crossover to a kelly brand belt or somerthing more generic that would be available at the local parts place. If I don't get a resonse here; I'll just remove mine and stop by the NAPA store or Autozone and see if they have the exact dimension belt. If so, I'll post the part number for everyone. Jeff |

Tom, This is easy to check. Just start the car and grad your digital multi meter. Find a good ground and then measure the dc voltage at the positive battery terminal. It sould be about 13 or so, if it is taking a charge. Mine was about 11.5, ie, discharging. |

Jeff, I looked in my 348 parts manual and the number listed is 156703 "generator control belt". Hope this helps. Good luck, Jim Hilton |

My alternator failed. It was full of oil from a small leak at the front corner of the valve cover. Since I had to remove the valve covers anyway to seal the leak, I powder coated them, they look great. I've had my 348 alternator rebuilt. Does Autozone have a matching belt? If so, does anyone have the part #? Thanks. |
