Patrick, I highly recommed Premier Automotive in Culver City for body work. They specialize in Ferraris. Dave Freed is one of the owners. I can look up the phone number if you are interested.

Patrick: Regarding Aluminum repairs......The problem with aluminum is that it strectches, where steel does not. That is why one can repair steel damage, but not aluminum.

I can't wait to start seeing salvaged 360s, with what would appear to be minimal damage!!!!!!

Patrick, likewise sorry to hear of the cruncher. I have been in the process of rebuilding my TR which suffered a spin from the previous owner. Ended up with front damage similar to yours and the rear quarter with grill and bumper damage.

There is salvage material available. I know of two yards in California which periodically handle TRs. Bumper material you can actually get after market which are constructed better (IMO).

Other than the above options, your going to probably have to wait for parts. My experience has been from 1week to 4months depending on the item. You probably have subframe damage and light mechanism/linkage as well as battery cage, underpanning, corner lights and other misc. damage. The list may be long. A parts manual can really help if you want to investigate yourself.

I have likewise heard about the aluminum repair problem. Repainting is out of my league but I would assume it depends on the shop you take it too whether they want to make any promises. If they do the entire car its alot of subassembly disassembly work.

Your temporary car usage is probably dictated by your policy so you probably need to talk with your adjuster.

Good luck. If you need some parts info I may be able to help including a location for the subframe if it needs to be replaced.

I'm within 15 miles or so of Ferrari of Orange County (California), so I was going to have it taken there - and they could do the seatbelt recall work at the same time.
I'm not so worried about having it fixed correctly as I was curious about dealing with the insurance and the general availability of parts.

Patrick, sorry to hear the bad news. Don't you have anyone in the area to turn to and that can see the car and give you suggestions?

Well, my 4th of July weekend started on a painful note. I was out driving around Thursday night in the TR since the traffic and parking is such a mess here on the 4th. I stopped about 30 ft behind a lady in a newish Jag who had pulled about halfway into her driveway and stopped. since her intentions were unclear, I waited to see what she was going to do - unfortunately I didn't suspect that she would put her car in reverse and gun it. She caught my car directly on the right front corner with her back bumper. When I got out to review the damage, it turned out that my bumper was essentially knocked off and broken in half, the right front fender is creased and crumpled, the right headlight and the piece in front of it are smashed, and the hood was pushed back and won't open right now.
Here are the questions:
1. The body panels are aluminum (correct?) - is it true that they can't be easily straightened?
2. If so, how available are replacement body panels?
3. Do insurance companies typically have the entire car repainted in a situation like this? Matching 15 year old paint has to be nearly impossible.
4. What has your experience been with their insurance providing a rental car - will they go for something something slightly more comparable than a Ford Taurus?
5. How long should I expect the car to be out of action? weeks? months?

Thanks in advance!
