Bill a couple of things. The floor jacks have to have a lifting height of at least 20". The other is that you need to remove the rear bumper. |

I did not think I could get the car high enough to clear the engine with floor jacks. Please list the procedure you went through to get the engine out with floor jacks? |

Bill you don't need a lift. If I recall the 3.2 has the same basice configuration as the 348. I currently have the engine out of my 348, and did it using two floor jacks, two jack stands, and a 1000lb moving dolly. But if are using this as a reason to add on to the garage. Then you need to "expand". LOL |

I've already talked with my wife about it and she won't go for it. Plus I like the idea of turning my two car into a three with the storage capability of a four post... Bill |

Nothing is permanent. The two post lift can be removed and the all-thread anchors cut off flush with the concrete..... |

OK I've got a real project now. I thought doing the belts and valves on my 3.2 was tough enough so I don't know why I'm taking this on. I'm having a new garage door installed in my garage so I can put a four post lift in. However checking the dimensions of lift I can not buy one that the engine/transmission basket will fit between the rails. I measure the clearance of the basket as needing about 46". All of the lifts I can find range from 32" to 42" of clearance between the rails. I've talked to several lift companies. One recomended pulling the car onto the lift from the side (i.e. perpendicular to the ramps/rails). The the front wheels would be on one rail and the second rail would be blocked to support the body just in front of the rear wheels in front of the engine basket attachment. Then the car can be lifted. Engine can then be removed and put on a support. Then the car can be lifted up out of the way of the engine. My concern is it seems like that is a lot of weight extending out to the side of the lift. I am concerned about the car and lift tipping over. Has any body done this? I don't want to put a two post lift in my home garage that has to be permanently mounted to the floor. Help and thanks, Bill |
