Jeff, Ferrari puts the paint on them after they are tightened. It is not any special paint, just yellow. There is a funny story about the proper "yellow paint" at a concours event on the www.tomyang.net site. His mechanic Francios had prepped a car for a show and the judges were discussing the "merits" of the proper yellow paint on the bolts, and whether they would deduct points...Francios "blew a gasket" telling them that he worked in the Ferrari factory, and they used whatever yellow paint was on the shelf, and if they ran out, they went to the hardware store and scounged up whatever yellow paint they had. They never was an "offical yellow" for bolt paint...funny story... and the judges ended the conversation... |

We use a yellow dye marking on bolts to indicate that a torque wrench has been used to put that bolt at the correct torque. So when we look at the bolts, we can assess how much is left to do. |

My 328 has Yellow marking paint on most of the fasteners in the engine compartment. Does anyone know the reason for it? Is it a security seal of sort? What kind of paint is it and where do you get it? Thanks
