Gary, Does your car have a single belt that drives both the alternator & water pump? If so, then the Gates belt Steve mentions is what you want. Somewhen during '83 Ferrari switched to separate belts for the alternator & water pump. They're still the same type belt, but both are quite a bit shorter. They're available from a Gates industrial supplier. The belt is called a 'PolyFlex'. My local bearing supplier also sells the gates industrial belts. These belts are not sold by auto parts dealers. (Except Ferrari dealers of course)

Gary -- do a search on "gates 7M975" (or 7M1000) for the details -- I'm not sure which your '83 would use (but I too would just buy it from one of the more-reasonable F parts suppliers as I'm without an easy Gates connection). |

Guys, I found the cause, a melted belt due to a seized water pump. Now I am in search of a rebuild kit to no avail. Thanks for the help ... Gary |

Gary - Have looked up #104336 for '79 carb. Length is 975mm. As Dave says though, doubtful unless belt is slipping or missing. Probably fan switches ? |

Doubtful, unless the belt is missing. Are your fans running? |

While out for a drive today the water temp. went way up and I suspect an alternator belt. I looked throught the archives but couldn't find any threads on these belts. Can someone tell me the replacement size? Can I get them anywhere and which one is the best to get?? Thanks .......... Gary |
