Radio Shack used to have a selection including colors. Haven't gone looking in a few years tho. Hmm, wonder if they've got the new high brightness white LEDs that are showing up in flashlights, etc. | ||

Not to steal any food from Jeff's mouth, but I have found the american number 2721 to work, and the number 79 will not work. These are fairly available at the corner store. | ||

I got my bulbs from the BMW dealer. Ask them for the 'peanut' bulbs that are used in the dashboards and ash-trays of E30 (1984-1991 3-series) BMW's. Dirt cheap and made by Osram. | ||

Hi Paul, It's similar but it has short leads that are bent over the base of the bulb to go into a socket. Dave, I tried to order them from Ferrari UK but I can't even find a part number on a drawing. My "local" ferrari dealer isn't that close, so I would rather find them closer or mail order. I'm certain that they can be had easily and cheaply someplace.... Mike, Heresy!!! Do they make LEDs with limiting resistors built in so you can run them on 12 V without an external limiting resistor? (A normal LED needs about 20 mA. You hit it with 12 V and no limiting resistor and it becomes the world's shortest-lived light source). Jay, thanks...I await! Jonathan | ||

All I know is that I took my burned out bulbs down to Kragens Auto Parts and they had something that worked perfect. I will post the part number Sunday. If I go out to the garage now, I will just end up working on the Ferrari until midnight again........... Jay | ||

This may be heresy, but I've had good luck replacing instrument lights with LEDs from Radio Shack. They come with long leads, and I fabricate a piece of plastic to match the socket and wrap the leads around it. Bear in mind that LEDs are polarity dependent, so if you plug in your contraption and it doesn't light, just rotate it 180 and try again. Be sure to get the ones rated at 12v. | ||

Hi Everyone, I have an indicator out in my dash (it's the hazard lights indicator but that is not important). I'm trying to find a source for this teeny weenie lightbulb. I just ordered some bulbs from Ferrari UK and they are the wrong ones (but the only part number on the drawing). The bulbs I'm referring to are the ones that go in the warning lights (hazard, fan, alternator, choke, etc.) The bulb is a tiny thing with a pair of wire leads that come out from under the glass and bend over, one on each side of the bulb. The bulb has no metallic base at all. Just a glass bulb with two leads. I took one to a local autoparts store and they sold me one that looks amazingly similar but is just a smidge too large to fit in the socket. Anyone have a part number for an equivalent bulb that will fit (or even a hint on where to look)? I already checked the archives with no luck. Thanks! Jonathan |
