simple things like that turn out to be very frustrating when trying to keep your F car going. I give up... I will just cut the hole wider and insert the extender in as all other extenders are...it may not be perfect, but what the heck... thanks all for the help

I never had that problem. Maybe you're either not shoving the boot in far enought, or have a short extender? On mine, the limiting factor in shoving the boot in seems to be the increasing diameter taper on the extender.

I have tried that Hans. However, when so doing, the extender will not reach the spark plug and stay put. Should I make the connection there tighter to keep the extender plugged in? Thanks for all the help

The "internal" type of boot goes over the extender, not the wire. Maybe that would simplify things?

I am begining to think you have aftermarket wires and boots...

Dave, it is the wire set that was in the car when I bought it in 1990. The car runs extremely well, and I am reluctant to start changing things around. The wires "look" original...but then, I really don't know. In any case, these wires had booties to fit them perfectly...they just dried out and became brittle and I thought it would be a good idea to replace them since a couple just disintegrated...

somehow I responded but it did not get posted...my booties are 7/16" in small hole diameter, but the old booties are 11/16". I have 12 new 108333 but they are too small. they are a quarter of an inch too tight...what number are the 11/16? Thanks

well, i was sent one of those mushroom looking booties from Dennis McCann to try out, and it did not fit, as the spark plug wire entry hole in the booties is too small...so there must be a small hole version and a big hole version...anyone know?

Hi All.

Coachi - I make it #108333 too, $6.60 and we have stock.

All 308 Genuine parts catalogues are on www.owners.ferrari.com, as Steve M says. You can look up numbers and check our stock live. Just a thought.

Cheers.

I just got a set from McCann and they do not look like the ones that were on the car. The ones I had were long and had o-rings on them. They went way down into the hole and sealed tight with the o-ring. The new ones are sort of spherical, kinda small (also go into the hole, not over it) and seem like they won't keep any water out.

Coach I -- And why can't YOU use the SPC on the FerrariUK/Owner's site? With your herd to care for you've got no excuse...

sorry to bring this up again, but I do not have a spare parts catalog for my 308 1979 carbed GTS. My spark plug booties are completely cracked..need replacement. I bought some from a fellow FChatter but they turned out to be the wrong ones. The center hole was too small to fit. I ordered some from Dennis McCann but he insists on the part number. Can anyone help.. thanks
