Hi Charles,
I have not gotten mine completely apart, but mostly there with help from these guys. Remove the ashtray with the 2 screws in the bottom and the top panel of the center console will be loose. According to these guys (I'll have to try it tomorrow) now you pull forward on the panel and it will come up and out. The panel has all the switches/controls on it.

Everyone,
Is there a trick to taking off the console, my 77 308 could use a little tweaking of some of the console controls, but I have not had the time to investigate.

You guys are awesome. Thanks! I was hoping the answer wasn't "Put the car on a lift and remove the stuff from underneath" which seems to be the answer to just about every other question of service on this car!

Best,
Jonathan

It is retained at the trailing edge by a "push fit" arrangement. Slide it towards the front and it should pop out.

Jonathan--on mine , an '85, you need to slide the console top forward a slight bit to lift it up as there is a metal lip at the rear of it ( near the hand brake).

Hi everyone,
New brain-buster for ya. One of the heater controls has vanished beneath the center console of my lovely '77 GTB that is providing so much entertainment for ya'all. I took out the ashtray and discovered that the top piece of the console (with all the switches and climate control knobs mounted on it) will now almost come out. But not quite. It lifts up a bit but seems like there is something "springy" holding it down. It moves around a bit though, suggesting there aren't any other screws holding it down. The exploded diagram in the manual isn't helping. Any thoughts?

Thanks...

Jonathan
