I did go back to the original Warranty Book that came with my 1995 Spider just to be sure, and as it states in the Warranty book, the emission Warranty covers the car for 8 years or 80,000 miles (and this is not the California Emissions warranty). Also, there's a separate page which list the parts that are covered under the Warranty, and if my understanding is correct, the Exhaust Manifold (I was told that this is the Header) is a covered part under the warranty. Art: just in case my understanding of the warranty turnout to be wrong, do you have a contact at QV London? Also, is that a Seneca or Dutchess in your profile? Jonathan: thx for your input. |

Jonathan: My understanding is that the exact warranty is 3 or 5 years on the emissions, pursuant to federal statute, depending upon the year. However, if the Ferrari was first sold in California, then the California Statute applies, and you have an 8 year warranty. Sometime in 1998, the federal warranty went to 8 years (not sure the exact date of this). At any rate this is what my research showed when my headers started to leak. Art |

Art, Just a question: How could it be unclear? The Header is warrantied under the emissions warranty with the car. Clearly stated in the warranty card and owners service book? |

John: This is an unclear area. They may or may not decide to warranty the headers. If you end up without a warranty: use QV London. They rebuild the headers and I think the cost is about 660 pounds for a rebuilt unit. Their replacments are made of thicker material, and should last longer. Art |

Your Headers and all Items listed in the emissions warranty are covered. I recently had one of mine replaced under warranty. First Step is to call FNA and find the service rep for your area. Explain to him that the header is cracked and you have an emmisions warranty. In my case they asked me what dealer I would like to have the work done at and then called the dealer and made arangements all went smooth as butter! |

Thx for all your input. My car did come through FNA, since they signed their name to the warranty booklet and had a big fat stamp on it. (It was a demonstrator car). I will keep you posted. |

FYI: Please be sure that your car came in the USA through FNA, or your car has NO emissions warranty. Even if it is a USA spec car. If FNA didn't get an initial piece of the pie when the car came to the States, forget it. Sulking from experience. Best of luck, Pino |

FYI, it matters not what it may or may not say in a warranty book. What matters is what is the law and what can you prove. |

Why argue that the headers are or are not covered....it states so in the warranty book. Also lists other specific equipment that is covered. |

I would argue that the headers are emissions related as they channel the exhaust into the cats. |

John, The rumor here on the list is that it is up to your local dealer to "go to bat" for you with FNA or if they are unwilling, to contact FNA directly. One way or another, you should get some relief, but perhaps not the entire bill. |

You are covered by the emissions warranty. Your header however, is not. Many dealers will do a good faith warranty if you have a good relationship with them though. Good luck. |

Does any one know if the 8yr/80K emission warranty is transferable to the subsequent owners? I have a 95 355 spider and I think the header just cracked. I want to make sure that a) the header is a covered item under the emission warranty, and b) I'm eligible even though I'm not the original owner.
