Yes,

They are sending two replacements (my new spares that I will carry in the car) and I submitted a claim for the oil cleanup and the new clutch.

Matt

Did they cover the leaky new coil on warranty?

Paul,

My car was bone stock before.

Then I was running MM coils, XR700 with ballast

then Accel coils with xr700 with ballast

then Crane ps60 with XR3000 with no ballast

then MSD, and ps60

now MSD with accel 8140c

Matt, or you using a resistor with the accells?

I called crane and they told me I had to use them with the XR700...however, I have been using the XR700s with the original marelli coils and no ballast resistors for the last 10 years. Not sure if I should add them with the accells.

I use PS20 Coils, XR700s with Ballast Resistors. I have been using them for 3 years with no problems. I use the stock ballast not the ones that come with the Cranes.

The top blew out spraying oil all over the engine and oil even ended up in the distrib cap. Also, yesterday I found out oil got into the inspection hole allowing the clutch to slip for a while.

Accels are fine. I got the 8140c's. The standard 8140's are fine but I am running a wider gap.

I will never buy crane after the failed ingnition upgrade to the xr700 and then the xr3000 and then my coil exploding.

Marelli does require a ballast resistor. They are external and mount under the coil.

I had my PS60 coil explode on the way to Las Vegas over the weekend.

do the original Marelli units have an internal ballast resistor? I plan on replacing my coils with crane PS20's and they call for a ballast resistor when using their XR700 (which I am using) I don't see any external ballast resistors for the Marelli coils so I am wondering if they are necessary with the PS20's...the car is a 78 gts with xr700s
