todd, here is the way to do it, as I have tried several. mark where the mirror went usuall in the center 1 inch down on the out side with a felt pin. make sure you put it on the right way as it is a trapezoid shape. clean the inside of the glass with alcohol, stick the pad on the glass first rub briskly to remove any bubbles, you can look on the outside to check. Clean the plastic mounting pin with alcohol then press firmly to the pad. Another reason for using the pad, right before my last f-trip, I let a friend sit in the car, he had never been in a Ferrari before and in getting in he broke the mirror off and the glass broke also. I am sure he would have broke my windsheild if it had been glued on. The porsche part is exactly the same as the f-part and should be about $2 I bought several for future mishaps |

No, No, No, The mirror is attached by a double stick pad. Brian at Ferrariparts exchange told me that they are the same as on a 914 and some other porsches. I went to a Porsche service shop and got them for $2 each. Dont glue it on, not only is it incorrect but some times you need the mirror to come off for adjustments etc. |

I've successfully used the Loctite/Permatex mirror glue kit successfully on 3 or 4 different cars. Getting everything clean before you use it is critical. The slightest trace of oil, or a sweaty fingerprint & it won't hold. Clean the windshield area & mirror surface with lacquer thinner, or a brake cleaner that you know leaves no residue. CAUTION: These cleaners will ruin the vinyl dash covering if you get any on it.

It might be different in the UK. The stuff can be a bit messy when applying and you need the let the glue cure on the gauze before applying it to the back of the mirror. IF then the glue is not very good. Actually your right you can buy special 3M tape.. |

JRK, this was not the common 3M multi-purpose double stick tape, this was designed for this application. But you are right, there is a Permatex product (glue kit) that is also specially made for fixing the mirror. I have not had good luck with that... |

todd, I had the same thing happen with me. I tried using double sticky tape but it would just fall off again and again. In the UK you can buy a special kit that for refixing the rearview mirror. Its got some special glue and gauze pad. It works really well. Mirror still on after 1 year... |

Not sure where you get it, but I used some special double stick tape from my mechanic that worked great. |
