I notice they still use this stuff in the current cars, hope they have changed the formulation to something more durable/stable. If Honda or Toyota had this problem, they would replace it no charge (recall)...Ferrari? Happy to sell you replacements! :-( |

Jim, I just went through this with my 348. Dave is correct Heat will cause the finish to become sticky as well as various cleaners. I removed all the parts that were sticky (vents, center console parts and door handles). Using either warm soapy water; goop or denature alcohol and a stiff nylon brush I was able to clean most of the parts to a good finish. I replaced two of the vents since they did not clean up very well. Crazy finish on the parts, but it's not a perfect world. Good luck, Jim Hilton |

Jim, Check the archives, there are many threads on this subject. And I agree, it is the sun, heat and a poorly designed finish that is the cause, not Armour All. |

The interior rubber pieces on my 512TR (around the console switches, the door handles and around the lower instrument cluster) are beginning to get "tacky". I have seen other cars where the material could actually be scraped off with a fingernail and I have been told this is from the use of Armor-all type products. I have owned the car for 3 years and have never used anything but soapy water. My guess is heat as the culprit (I live in florida). What can I use to clean the material and/or stop this process? Thanks. |
