Chris, Thanks, would LOVE to put a coolong fan on the oil cooler..any ideas, I saw a very nice combined fan/cooler unit with thermostat in , of all places, JC whitney catalog but I don't need the cooler and did not know if it would fit properly...if you have pics or part numbers I would do that in a heartbeat...I would use all the cooling opportunities this car's design gives me..

FRANK, I hear ya' man...does anyone know anyone in NYC, NNJ area that can make up an alum rad...I pretty much have decided to try and go with 1-800 alum rad and ship them my existing rad for a sample. I told Brian my fears and he said he might just make the brakets "blanks" and I could drill the holes myself as they match up...sounded good but I am not so sure...would love a competent shop in the area so that if it does not fit I just bring the alum rad back over same day for rework at no extra shipping costs...don't want my car layed up waitign for an alum rad to go back and forth or waste my time installing a bad rad..

Sam, I bought mine from one who has done it before and it still cost me 50 plus dollars to have the mounting brakets moved plus the time to pull the radiator back out and take it to a shop and reinstall the radiator. I also found out all the one who had done this before did was send a radiator to a shop out of town and had them make up a radiator. Cut out the middle man and have a local radiator shop do it . Oh by the way I never did get any compensation for the time or the extra cost I had to incur so keep that in mind if you are ordering from the same source. :-(

Have you tried placing a cooling fan on the oil cooler? I have had several customers do this to their cars with excellent results(in Georgia summers!). It may very well take care of your problem. Good luck.

thanks guys,

I think I will bite the bullet, I am obsessed with enjoying my 308 without overheating and stress in traffic this summer ...I did the new wp, the hoses, waterwetter, bleeding, Hayden fans now the alum rad is next.. (I am pretty sure I don't have a head leak).

The prices I am getting are about 500 to 600, sounds like I will go with a those that have done this before, rather than my seeking a local fabricator who may be 100 or so less. I will keep every one posted.

Sam, Pull it out and take it to a local radiator shop. the shop here in New Orleans laughed there asses off at me when I told them I paid 800.00 for one that needed to have the mounting points moved and rewelded. Never did hear back about the 50plus dollars I was supposed to be refunded for that f up hmmm..... Anyway the radiator shop said they could make the same radiator for about 300-400

There was a link posted within the last few months for a place that charges <$400 for one. Also if you talk to the people at Evans Cooling and send your radiator in they can make one for around $500-$700. You can always upgrade the fans, which is cheap and easy.

Hi,

This may have been discussed (hey hasn't everything already by now) but it is a hot summer here in NYC and any reasonable sources or exp. with high efficiency aluminum radiators for the 308 tha let you use the A/C as well. I ihear that Nick Forza's is pricey and is not the best or easiest direct stock replacement. I am about to recore my stock rad and I thought I could probably get a aluminum high efficiency rad for not much more...any ideas?
