Just the door. Left the dash tweeters alone. The high pass filter just lets the high frequencies pass to the tweeter. If the low frequencies were allowed to reach the tweeter, it would damage it and muddy the sound. |

BTW, I installed some Kenwood coaxials, 200% improvement at all frequencies, but expecially noticable in bass response, and (obviously) treble response. I didn't expect much bass improvement since the stock speaker is a dedicated, mid bass woofer, but it was amazing. |

There has been some confusing info. posted in the past on door speaker upgrades for 328's. I just completed upgrading one door, so here goes: 1) The stock speaker is a 6.25" mid woofer. 2) The opening will accept a common 6.5" speaker. 3) The "cut out" will accept a 5" back side to the speaker (this is important, because only about 50% of the 6.5" speakers will fit in an opening this small, many require 5.125" or greater opening. 4) The mid woofer is actually receiving a "full range" signal, so a coaxial (two way) speaker will make a big difference in improving the clarity of the sound. 5) Many new speakers have "pivoting" tweeters that allow you to direct the sound to your listening position. 6) The tweeters in the dash receive a full range signal, but a cheap "high pass" filter removes the lows, to protect them. Anyway, big "cluster" for me, as previous posts said 328's accept 5.25" speakers like the 308. This is WRONG. |
