Interesting trivia.....most Ferrari V12's have the same firing order.....1, 7, 5, 11, 3, 9, 6, 12, 2, 8, 4, 10 but the boxers, despite being called a 180 deg V12 and not a true boxer, have a different firing order.

Thanks very much, guys. I have also noticed that the cylinders numbers are stamped on the block in the vee, along with the firing order. Should have looked at the engine and not the manuals.

How dumb do I feel!!

Could be wrong but don't remember ever seeing a Ferrari 12 where #1 wasn't Right Front Hole. Standing from flywheel end looking towards front of engine.

Simon,

Cylinder No 1 is the front most cylinder on the RHS on the car (Driver's side for you), next to the vacuum port for the power brake booster...If you look in the engine valley, you will see #1 stamped on the block. Numbering on block is as follows: RHS front #1, RHS rear #6 (closest to the vacuum pump), LHS (closest to distributor)#7 and #12, LHS next to bulkhead...

RHS and LHS, as viewed from the rear of the car...

Regards,
David

I have bought a nice new set of original spec, white covered plug leads for my 365 BB and I need to identify cylinder No 1. I can swop in the new leads but my new ones are numbered and I want lead #1 to be on cylinder #1. As my car is right-hand drive and most of your are left-hand drive can we assume that I am stood behind the car looking forward. Which bank is '1 on and is it at the front or rear?

I have looked in the books and it is very unclear.

Simon
