Mike: I recently replaced the battery in my 88 TR, with an Interstate MTP-91. This was first confirmed by the Ferrari dealer. I would imagine that it would probably be the same for your car. The previous Interstate lasted for over 5 years, and this was with leaving the battery in the car.....no trickle charge, for the 5 month Winter lay-over. I did though use the disconnect switch. |

Check with Ferrari dealership for type and manufacturer of battery. Then call manufacturer direct for a price. Much cheaper and you will have the right battery you need. |

I guess I'm the oddball. I put a Diehard in my 512Tr 5 years ago and never had a problem even with it flipped off for 5 months a year. |

I have a 94 512TR and use an Optima Red top and have had no problems. It came with the car when I bought it almost two years ago and still seems to be working fine. I use them in my other vehicles. I did have a problem with one Optima in my Rover, however, I had let it run all the way down. Pep Boys replaced it at no cost to me as it was purchased within the three? year full replacement warranty. |

Bruce, You need to be careful with that Pep Boys price, here in the NW, Pep Boys quotes anywhere from 109.99 to 159.99 (for a red top)depending on which store you call. ALL Costco stores around here charge 99.99 Dave |

Gents, The battery on my 1994 512TR has expired and I need to find a replacement. Can anyone recomend a high quality replacement. Current battery is an Interstate, but I have been told that it is of the wrong type, which is a type MT34A. This was the result of my recent tech inspection for a track event. Is there a correct Interstate of Optima battery that others have used that is a correct match for the car so that I will pass tech inspection. |
