while it is possible that a "quick fix" is all that is required/needed, it is also quite possible that with any car 15 years old, there is some corrosion beneath the surface. look for a reputable shop that specializes in being expensive and extensive... they will be able to help you determine a course of action. all in all... not a huge problem from where I'm standing, just take this opportunity to correct any existing problems and head off any future issues while you have the chance. good luck! |

Heck, The factory used enough filler so that filler isn't a reliable indication of a previous accident. See the recent thread about a full strip & repaint. The amount of factory filler blew the restoration shop's mind! |

Can you post a picture? Not knowing what year the car is, or whether it has had an accident repair or a re-spray it is hard to tell. My guess is that the panel was once repaired with Bondo and it cracked, letting some water in. The discoloration might be rust. You can check for Bondo by running a flexible magnet over the area and seeing if it holds. Any more than a thin coating of Bondo and it will fall off. |

I was looking over my car and fount a 1.5 inch paint slipt just below my rear side left rectangular turn signal. My heart sunk when I saw the discoloration in the should be silver under metal. Thoughts on what I should do/have done? 88.5 328 |
