Steve -- the stroke of a 308 engine (71 mm) is quite a bit shorter than a "normal" engine so the maximum piston velocity is probably about the same at 70 mph (even though the RPM is higher). Still, for this same reason, I preferred to run 225-55-16s at the rear (which are +1.7% larger than stock) rather than 225-50-16s (which are -1.7% from stock) on my ex-308. |

What RPM's are you turning at 70MPH and with what size tires. My 77 308 is running with 235-60-14's but I don't like the high rev's it's turning at highway speeds. I know these 3 liter engines need high rev's to make the power but I would like to have an extra gear. Guess I'm to use to 2400 RPM at 70MPH in my other cars. So can you tell me what speeds and rev's you turn? Thanks Steve |
