Thanks for the link and help Steve, I'll get in contact with them and see what they'd charge to send it to me and go from there.

OK Mark -- I didn't realize that you had BOTH problems . Now that it's cranking over OK hot, I think you should follow the previous suggestions and confirm whether or not the supply-side fuel pressure is OK during hot restart. (I don't know the upstream electronics of K as well as KE, but) If your swapping/unplugging/etc. of the various input sensors causes the cold-start valve to give a fuel squirt during hot cranking this could aid a situation where the after-shutoff supply-side fuel pressure has fallen below spec (something near 3 bar IIRC), but it's not really a good solution IMO. I know from your Profile that you're in the UK, but here in the US the necessasary CIS FP gauge/kit can be purchased for less than an hour of F shop labor: http://www.jcwhitney.com/item.jhtml?ITEMID=1939&BQ=jcw2 |

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Steve, the car has had a new starter as originally it would not turn when hot - sort of like a flat battery. Now it turns a treat when hot or cold but it will not fire when hot. I seem to have narrowed it down to the two blue plug in sensors, if I swap them over I can just about get it into life. It's a GTBi by the way. |

Mark R. -- Can you explain your original post/problem more clearly? If the problem is that it "cranks OK (hot or cold), but doesn't refire well when cranking hot", I don't see why you and Rob are talking "starter/low voltage at solenoid/etc." -- or is your problem "cranks OK cold, but won't crank (or engage the starter solenoid) when hot" (which I think is Rob's symptom)? |

I've been dealing with the same thing all summer. Norwoods suggestion without looking at it is the starter doesn't get enough juice when hot. They rig up a bypass on a dedicated line so the starter always gets full power. They say this is common with all Ferraris. If temp is below 90 degrees outside I never have this problem. Only when it's really really hot here in Texas. Norwoods is use to fixing this problem for all it's Texas clients. Will know for sure next time I take it in. |

The accumulator maintains fuel pressure after shutdown to prevent vapor lock. I'd suggest figuring out if the motor is flooding or not getting gas. If it is flooding, then your cold-start valve may be getting energized even though the motor is hot. You'll have to check the thermo-time switch. You can disable the cold start valve by unplugging the connector before you try to start the hot motor. If the motor isn't getting fuel, then I'd suggest getting a CIS fuel pressure gauge connected to verify that the accumulator is working. |

Is this a GTSi? If so, there is a whole separate system which enrichens the intake if cold, but doesn't if the header tank temperature sensor says the engine is warm. Try unplugging the wire (with the engine warm) to the tank sensor, see if it makes a difference. The 'thing' that decides all this is a circuit board in the passenger footwell. |

Check to see if the car has an accumulator......if so, then have it checked.
