Mike, I used the bolts that came with my car. I believe them to be OEM. |

Bill, I have a set of repro wheels on order from Superformance. Are you saying that your stock wheel bolts were the ones that had the problem, or did you order the Superformance bolts? I have ordered a new set of bolts from them, and would hope that they will not give me any trouble. Putting them on a '75 308GT4. Thanks |

Terry, I had the same problem with the repro wheels I got from superformance. I believe it was George Evans that cautioned me that the rear lug bolts would foul the hub. Indeed, close inspection showed they were too long for these wheels. I wound up shortening all the rear wheel bolts about 0.100 inches, on a bench grinder. This cured the problem. |

Terry, Have a look at the picture below. On the 308 the dimension "B" is 45mm on the fronts and 35mm on the back. If you have mixed the fronts with the rears the rears would be 10mm to long. If you tried to put a rear bolt on the front wheel I would have thought it would only have a thread or two before seating on the conical part. The best way to get an idea what the right length should be is to get the corresponding bolt for the stock rim, pop the bolt through and measure what is protruding out. The new wheels that you have should have the same amount hanging out You will have to do this for both front and rear for peace of mind If the bolt hangs out too much ,you already have found out the wheel will not rotate, too little and you are decreasing the thread engagement length ( which is a big no no!!) If you need new bolts, let me know what lengths you need as I have hundreds of different types in stock. Hope this helps Paul

Terry The fronts and the rear lug BOLTS are different lengths. While it is a couple of months since I pulled mine apart, I find it hard to believe that tightening the bolts can lead to a binding wheel. The lug bolts pass through the rotor and into the hub. If too long I guess they can foul on the hub carrier/steering uprights, but I think this would be so obvious as to rule it out. Are the wheels a different offset to stock and therefore fouling on the caliper in some way?

Im mounting my aftermarket QV 308 wheels that I got in the group buy. They wont rotate. After taking them off, looking at everything and ruling out a stuck brake caliper, its clear the issue is with the wheel studs. The studs appear to be too long. They are going through the wheel, into the rotor and fouling with something inside the rotor assembly. Its enough to totally lockup the wheel. I also see that some of the studs are a different length than others? Whats the story? Do I need different studs for the aftermarket wheels or do I just need to figure out where the short ones go? Any tips? Thanks! BTW '77 308GTB |
