It turns out it was no big deal. ODBII indicated a couple misfires. There was some water on the coils from washing. I was told to not wash in the engine compartment anymore. The light was reset and does not come on any more.

After putting 750 miles on my new 575 the check engine light came on and stayed on several days back and forth to work. I checked all the fluid levels and found the oil to be down a quart. The light went out after fillin er up. aehaas |

John, You don't need a repair. All you need is a 3 min pit stop at the dealer to hook up the computer and see if you should or should not track the car depending on the fault. Surely WWOC will accomodate you. |

I assume you've checked for a very common cause of a check engine light, which is an improperly tightened fuel cap. Assuming that is OK, a faulty oxygen sensor is often the culprit. But, I think it could be any of may issues, and it really needs to be checked with a computer to determine the fault. |

In May I purchased a '99 360 F1 with 5,800 miles on it. I have since put about 1,000 miles on the car. The Check Engine light just started comming on. It first came on a couple days ago, I pulled over and turned off the ignition and counted to 30. I Re-started it and the Check Engine light was off. It came on again today and this time would not go off by re-starting. I drove the car again about 2 hours later and the light was off but came on again after about 10 minutes driving. The car seems to run fine. I don't notice anything unusual in the sound or feel. Temps and oil pressure were fine and it still screamed like a banshee up to 8,500. My guess is it has something to do with the emission control system. Has anyone out there had a similar problem? My problem is that I have signed up to take the car to a track day August 9th. Do I dare still take it?? I will call my local dealer (WWOC) to get their input on it but I doubt they will be able to schedule me for a repair before August 9th. Any input is appreciated. |
