I assume they didn't look that way when I took it apart because the plates were worn, allowing the springs to release.

Thanks again, Hank. I wasn't aware that the finger springs are supposed to be pressed to a flat position at rest.

The torque is 18.1 ft-lbs. The torque tightens the finger springs, hence, their movement......this is normal.

After tightening to 18.1 ft-lbs, hit the clutch several times with a rubber mallet, in a circular fashion.......then retighten the torques to 18.1 ft-lbs. The clutch may move in a little, hence the torques would be off, unless re-torqued.

(My first time replacing a clutch...Another dumb question!) When I tighten up the nuts on the clutch cover, I notice that the finger springs tighten up. I assume that there must be a torque spec for this? Or do I just tighten up the nuts on the cover until the fingers start to go in?
