I have noticed on my A-arms where the stock rubber bushings (8 per wheel) have started to crack and distort. I have 40K miles and I would have to think my alignment is on its way out too. May be what some of you are experiencing is possibly worn bushings. Check them out. Joe

A lot of times people bring them to alignment shops for checks nad end up getting them out of spec because the car was not fully laden with gas and weights as mentioned in the owners manual. I don't think 308-328 series goes out of alignment easily, but it must be done right. Dave |

When I got mine at like 55K they were way out too. Makes me kind of wonder if they were actually ever right...drunk Italians throwing shims in at random. I've noticed that the everything being so stiffly put together combined with the engine vibrations and road vibrations seems to loosen things up, get them out of sync, etc faster than a normal car. I guess it just follows that thoroughbred suit of high maintenance. |

Thanks Brett. I just got the wheels aligned and found that they were way out. This seems to have cured the problem. I just did not believe that there would be an alignment problem after only 29K miles but I am told that this is common for 328s. |

My shocks don't come up that quickly. There supposed to just come back up at a normal pace, not spring up. Other than that I'm not sure. Are you sure it isn't in need of an alignment, etc to tighten up the steering itself? According to the WSW (shared for 308qv and 328): KONI 82x1830 (front) has 50mm compression travel and 48mm return travel. KONI 82x1831 (rear) has 74mm compression travel and 73mm return travel. F.Max (da N): expansion front 126-154 expansion rear 153-187 compression front 39-49 compression rear 55-65 The spring testing from the WSM: free length front 418.8mm free length rear 384.5mm static load length front 247mm static load front 440daN static load length rear 257mm static load rear 458.5daN To be honest I really doubt this stuff is shot, but some guys here will tell you that they have had problems with them when doing rebuilds, so it could be. There are a good number of people that can rebuild the shocks, maybe looking around for one of them wouldn't be a bad idea.

Still trying to sort out a handleing problem. At about 80 MPH the front of the car seems to float and if I make a quick motion with the wheel the movement of the car is very imprecise. I know that I have mismatched tires. Older Goodyear Eagles on the front V Rated- and newer z rated Goodyears HP Ultras on the rear. I tried to check the shocks by pusning down on each corner. The car does not push down very far and comes up slowly instead of spring back quicklt. The car has 29K miles. Does anyone know of a quick and easy way to tell if the shocks are bad and would it be likely that the shocks would require replacement after only 29K miles? |
