Blue smoke sure sounds like oil. If it were black smoke I would think an injection issue, but if its bluish-grey, thats oil being burned.

Of coarse running real rich could cause the excess fuel to wash past the oil control rings leading to blowby and oil combustion...thus blue smoke.

Is the car using oil? At what rate? If there is no excessive oil consumption then perhaps it is related to it running rich?

I had the same problem with my 328 and took it to 3 shops before getting it repaired. you need to check the c o and the h o, mine was running rich
and would only smoke when it was on the high rev's
as with yours, they had to lean out the injection
system to correct the problem. I also thought it was the valve seals

A leakdown would not show a problem with an oil control ring, check the plugs and try a borescope to look at the pistons and cylinder chambers.
Typically valve seals might show smoke after start up and at hot idle. Worn guides especially exhaust would only show at higher rpm. and by bad oil consumption. Checked yours recently?

Hmmmmmm did they give you the figures on the leakdown, if so it would be interesting to see them for each cylinder. By any chance did they do a compression test too?

If the leakdown was fine, perhaps Ed has it and its seals? I dont know if its possible for a cracked seal to only expand and leak oil around the exhaust valve when under high load (over 6000rpm in your case.

It has to be something related to the exhaust valves, I cant think of any other way you would get oil smoke like you describe. Would a leaky cam seal lead to a problem like this?

Try the oil they recommend and see what happens. If the leakdown and compression are good your probably not in any immediate danger of doing serious damage.

Terry, the leakdown test was done, everything was OK. They advised me to put in some special oil, normally used for the first 1000 km when a car is brandnew. I personally had the idea the car was never put to its limits at all. Is this a bad or a good idea ?

The seals themselves could be bad and not the guides. This was the case with my engine. I assumed the guides were worn and pulled the heads and replaced them but in reality it was just the seals.

Sounds like worn exhaust valve guides to me. If so, the only fix is to to rebuild the heads with new guides. If its only at higher rpm's, and it still runs fine you may get away with it for awhile. However, this will lead to valve wear and ultimatly failure that could have extreme consequences...

ie: valve head breaks off and falls into combustion chamber where it contacts the piston, causing the connecting rod to break and perhaps punch a hole in the block....

Have a leakdown test done. This should help determine if it is guides and how badly worn they are.

When I drive my 328 GTS 1987 (48.000 km) at about 6000 RPM it starts smoking blue smoke out of the left 2 exhaust pipes and spitting out small oil particles. When driving slower, the smoking stops. My garage said they have to take out the complete engine to see what could be the cause of this smoking. Oillevel = OK. Does anyone recognize this problem ?
