Pauli -- One thing to consider is that the F technical stuff is usually only well described the first time an engine or injection system comes out (even if it's used in later years/models). Like Grady says, the 308-2V engine mechanics are only in the 308GT4 WSM (I don't think a 308GTB/S WSM even exists), and similarly, the real tech details about the K-Jetronic stuff may only appear in the Mondial 8 (or GTBi/GTSi?) WSMs -- I don't know for sure, but just a thought... A general K-jetronic book can be had from Amazon (at minimal expense): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0837604680/qid=1002734614/sr=1-10/ref=sr_1_2_10/107-6914159-5181348 If you get really desperate, the TR WSM (587/90) has a decent description of K-Jetronic (and KE-Jetronic for that matter), but the hardware may look a little different. |

The QV workshop manual is almost worthless for anything but a doorstop.....I think Ferrari just wants you to take the car to a dealer. The last manual they produced that was good was the 308 GT4 manual.....find a copy if you have any 2 valve V8....good information in there. |

That mirror switch is off a BMW (not sure which model, but one from the 1990's). |

I took a risk and bought a 1986 328 in less than perfect condition (but driveable), and thought I'd start fixing the simplest things first: The knob of the electric mirrors adjustment "joystick" is missing. I can imagine the absurd cost of getting that little piece of plastic from a Ferrari dealer, so I was wondering if this is one of those parts common with some other car and could be found somewhere for a couple of $? The steering wheel is quite worn: I think I'll get a new one or get this one covered with something. I would like the feel of a slightly thicker wheel, so I'm considering a cover if I can find something that works and doesn't look too tacky. This outfit says they'll custom make a cover for $39.95: http://www.wheelskins.com/covers.htm Anybody got experience with that, or better suggestions? Just a curious thing in the user's manual: it says about the idle speed setting "if required, adjust by the idle speed by-pass screw (see fig. 58) following the procedure described in the workshop manual". Well, I have a workshop manual that covers 308QV and 328 and I'm pretty certain it says absolutely nothing about the idle speed setting. What might this mysterious "procedure" be? |
