No problem. Glad I could help out. Oh ya you have to wiggle the starter out the bottom of the car. |

Thank you Tom! Of all the previous threads about 308 starters, that's the first time I've read to remove the wheel and wheel well. Now, that makes sense. Keep the suggestions coming as I will check this often. |

remove the left rear wheel and wheel well panel. You will see the tree bolts that hold the starter in place to the bell housing. Just undo the wireing from the starter(disconnect battery first of course)and the undo the three bolts and wiggle it out. It's really not that bad to do. |

First off, I have scoured the archives for months and come across great articles, but I'm still lost right now. I've got the car up on jack stands (all four corners) for the first time because the starter (well, solenoid) won't even "click" now. I'm also nervous...even with the jack stands at full height, it's tight under there. I think I see the starter...is it a beer-can sized lump on the driver's side front of the bottom of the engine? There seems to be a bunch of wires, including a thick red one, running directly to the inboard side of it. I think that's it, but I wanted to be sure. Also, I have no idea how I'm going to maneuver tools in there to unbolt it, upside down on my back. I guess that's where talent comes in, which I have to an extent, but right now I'm totally stuck, and still nervous under there. Any detailed help is much appreciated. -Lee in Knoxville |
