The car overall is not in such bad shape, but the door is bad. I haven't taken the door off of the car yet and really examined it, but my guess is that it is beyond repair. I don't want the door to be repaired and come out badly. The shop the car is at now is good, but he admits he has never repaired a Ferrari before. That makes me a little nervous. I was planning on posting a thread about everyones experience with bodyshops they have used. In fact, I think I'll do that now. |

Even if the inner door is somewhat bent, a good body metal person can straighten it so that you can't tell it was damaged. Seriously bent or torn just takes more time & $$. Also, unless it's really badly damaged, a good metal person can remove, restore & reinstall the outer skin. Of course the labor to do so is likely to be more than the cost of a new skin! BTW, the average body shop will NOT have a 'good metal person'. They're too oriented to high volume panel replacement. The remaining good metal people are in restoration, classic car maintenance shops, or doing custom work such as building show or race cars.

Richanton, The door is make up of 2 panels. A inner and outer. Similar to a "take out box". The outer panel is pressed on the inner. If the outer is the only thing damaged, why replace the whole door? All you need is the outer panel. Unless your description of the damage is understated. If the door is straight and true and the outer is bent. Just replace the Skin. Also Ferrari of UK is $350 and the link Verell posted is 350 GBP. Which is $ 440 USD. FWIW |

The car was in a minor accident, the only body panel that is really damaged is the passenger door. My plan is to replace the door and then paint the whole car. |

In that case it might be cheaper to replace the car then the door. I really wish I was joking on that |

I'd check with Ted Rutlands/Maranello or Butch Hooper at Italian auto. I'd not expect it to be cheap. |

The Don, I wish I needed a door panel, I need the whole door. I am going to call Ferrari UK about some of the various parts I need, but I'm trying to obtain a used door domestically. |

Richanton, Check with Ferrari of UK. They are a sponser of Ferrarichat. You can get a new door panel for $350.00. It is cheaper then a used panel. Matt |

I was wondering if anyone knows a good source for quality used parts. I need some body parts for my 308 (most notably a passenger door) and am having trouble obtaining new parts. Also, the car needs quite a bit of work and I would like to save money wherever I can, so I am going to try and obtain some of the body parts used. |
